Today I was listening to Tim Ferris’ podcast, The Tim Ferris Show, episode #207, found here.
He was talking about his new book, Tools of Titans, which sounds amazing and I’m looking forward to reading it in the near future.
Also, he was highlighting an interview he had done previously with Brene Brown, shame researcher, author and speaker.
Two sections that stood out to me were near the beginning, first around minute 5:30.
Tim said, “Afraid and brave can co-exist.”
Brene said, “Most of us are afraid and brave at the exact same moment all day long”
Wow, so good. I love the topic of courage, and how being courageous doesn’t mean without fear. Instead it is proceeding in spite of fear.
The second highlight that stood out to me was around minute 7:15.
Brene said, “You have to choose comfort or courage. You just can’t have both”
This reminds me again of stepping outside of our comfort zones. Doing so is courageous.
And they go on to say that those who choose courage are the ones who rise to the top, succeed, and achieve their goals and dreams.
I’m looking for ways I’m courageous in my life and ways that could use improvement. How about you?
Do you let fear hold you back from doing the things you want to do or being the person you want to be? Or, do you feel the fear and do it anyway?
If you want to have more courage in your life in order to be the best version of yourself, coaching can help! As usual, I’m offering a free mini-coaching session to anyone who is interested. Click here!
